Robert Peter Williams was born on February 13th, 1974, inStoke-on-Trent, a town in the North of England. He grew up with his mother and sister Sally after his parent’s divorce. His mother saw an advertisement of a band that was looking for potential members. The 16-year-old Robbie was an instant go and became a pert of the boy bandTake That. It would become a British sensation. It broke into North America With the hit single I Want You Back. After five years of record-breaking success he was dismissed from the group. Although Williams ultimately won and signed with EMI, he had problems keeping sober and had to go to a rehab clinic for his drug and alcohol habits. Finally, once Angels the fifth single off the album Life Thru A Lens was released and making his comeback as a solo artist. The Ego Has Landed was released in 1999, followed by the single Millennium, which was a Top 10 hit in North America and followed up with I Have Been Expecting You, No Regrets, Strong and the successful She Is The One.His third album Sing When You Are Winning with international hits Rock DJ(which has a very unique video) and Kids was very successful too. Since the 2001 Brit Awards, Williams certainly has had a lot to sing about: he took home a record-breaking 12 awards, including honors for Best British Male Artist and Best British Single and Video for Rock DJ. He also shows a love for the charity organizations that he supports, such a s UNICEF, Jeans For Genes and Children’s Promise. In my opinion Robbie seems to be the most popular man in Britain today.
