It is the island to the south of Pacific Ocean. The Easter Island belong the country Chile. It is situated around 3300 kilometres from the shore of South America. Its area is approximate 180 km2. It is the easternmost island of Polynesia. Earth's surface consists from the 20 volcanic cones. The highest point on this Island is 507 metres about the sea. The number of inhabitants is 3791.
The Easter Island was discovered in 1722 by Hollander Roggeveenom. It was created from three volcanoes - Terevaka, Rano Kao a Pua Katiki.
It is famous with its stone human head as a remainder megalithic culture. On the island there stand or lying 700 – 1000 the huge statues from the volcanic rock. Native who lived there called their Moai. There are heads of people, which had some turbans. Features of faces aren’t as Polynesian breed. The statues are about 6-12 metres high. One of them has 22 metres and her weight is about 50-100 tones. The poor vegetation of the island is created only from a grass and it is washed stormy and cold sea. The exceptional this island is that there was breed on of the interesting Polynesian culture.
