SHALL WE DANCE?

One popular part of culture is a dancing. People adore dancing because of its many advantages such as relax, fun, socializing and kind of sports. So there are many films about dancing and relationships that dancing brings for example: Shall we dance? or Dirty dancing: Havana Nights.

Shall we dance? A workaholic lawyer’s life and marriage are really changed when he follows a beautiful woman to a Chicago dance studio. In my opinion what begins as a romantic comedy soon turns into story about a place where one finds passion.

The movie is based on Japanese hit that won fans around the world. It seems to me that the film with its thrilling dance brings the story about American’s search for fulfillment and happiness.

Richard Gere stars as John Clark, a man with a wonderful job, a charming wife (played by Susan Saradon) and a loving family, who feels that something is missing as he makes his way every day through the city. He commutes home and sees a beautiful young teacher named Pauline (played by Jennifer Lopez). John sees her through the window of a dance studio and admires her. John jumps off the train one night and hoping to meet her, signs up for dance lessons.

At first it seems like a mistake. His teacher is not Pauline, but the much older Miss Mitzi (played by Anita Gillette) and John is clumsy. He meets Pauline and she tells John that she hopes he has come to the studio to seriously study dance and not to look for a date. During lessons, he starts to fall in love with dance. Soon he realizes that his attraction to Pauline is nothing in comparison to what he feels for dance.

John has to keep his new obsession secret from his family and co-workers. The more time John spends away from home the more his wife becomes suspicious; she hires a private detective to follow him.

After all he tells about his secret his family and they realize that dance is what he really dreams about.

DIRTY DACING: HAVANA NIGHTS

The film tells a timeless story of a young woman’s love, sensuality and independence-but with a unique style and rhythm.

In my opinion Havana Nights combines romance, dance, personal history and self-discovery. In 1958, Katey Miller (Romola Garai) was a teenager living in St. Lois, Missouri, when her father an executive with Reynolds Aluminum, was transferred to Havana where he had taken an executive position at Ford.

Katey did not want to leave her life in St. Louis, but of course had no choice. Her family joined the other American families in residence at Havana’s luxurious hotels, where every need was catered to and people socialized at country clubs, private parties and luxury nightclubs and casinos. It was a culture shock for the family. They were a middle-class family and suddenly they were living in a fancy hotel with chauffeur available at all times.

In my view Katey was different; she discovered a culture where dance and music were part of everyday life. I think that the dancing in Cuba-how people moved was completely different for her. She had never in her life seen anything that looked like the dancing she saw in Havana, because when people danced it was about the freedom of their bodies. It was a part of their personality.

Katey was expected to join the smart set of American teenagers who were the Millers’ neighbors at the exclusive Oceana Hotel. Katey met Javier (Diego Luna) a waiter who also happened to be a brilliant dancer. They became friends and wanted to win a dancing competition because of a help Javier’s family. They wanted to win money and with that also an opportunity for Javier’s family moving to the USA, because only there they can live in a freedom.

At the night of the competition finally arrives, Katey and Javier are ready to take their place as a couple on the dance floor, but the country club and the streets of Havana were about to erupt in revolutionary violence…

New Zealand

New Zealand’s population is only four million in a country with an area of over 250000 square kilometers. Almost one million live on the larger South Island. Around 90% of the population is from Europe. The three main cities are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The nature is very diversity and picturesque. There are a lot of unique natural phenomenons, for example: snow- capped mountain peaks, bubbling mud pools, geysers, volcanoes, glaciers, forests, sunny beaches and the sea.
Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand. It is also called the “City of sails”, because it has more boats than any other city. Water sports are very popular here. If you want to try kayaking, water skiing, diving or windsurfing this seaside resort is the best for us. Island volcanoes and wildlife reserves are great for sailing and cruising.
The Bay of Islands is one of the most beautiful regions in the country. The weather is warm and the sky is blue most of the time in this region. There is something for everyone from outdoor activities.
In my opinion the country like New Zealand is very interesting for tourists from Europe, because this country is different in every aspect.

. smoking half-banned

Nowadays, one of the most common and favourite habits is a smoking. Nicotine, which is embraced in the cigarettes, causes many problems with the respiratory tract and is a base of lung´s cancer. Recently, in many European countries was accepted the law of no smoking in the restaurants. The Slovak republic belongs to the countries which have a tendency to protect people, who do not damage their health by smoking. The law setting the new rules was passed by parliament in mid February. Now it is signed by the president and its will become effective on the April 1. According to new rules, every establishment which serves food must separate smokers from non-smoking customers by a wall. Under the new law, the entire grounds of hospital and medical complexes will be non-smoking. Also, smoking will be prohibited in official buildings, theatres, cinemas, museums and galleries. If people smoke at bus stops or on platforms, they will be penalizing. In my opinion, this rule can be considered by a step to respect non-smokers by smokers. The negatives between both sides will increase, but non-smokers are very often discriminate, e.g. smoking in open areas, squares or bus stops. In a conclusion it is important to say, that conflicts between smokers and non-smokers will last further but no smokers who hate cigarette smoke, will be protected by law.

Weary eyes

Our eyes are very exhausted every day. Watching television, hours of sitting in front of computer, artificial illumination, air- condition, draught, dry air and air filled with smoke or reflected sunbeam don’t help your eyes to get better! Another possible reason could be lower frequency of blinking. It makes eyes much drier, more exhausted and more tired. Researches pointed that common blinking is 22.4 times per minute. While you are reading it’s just 10.5 times per minute and during the concentrated work with a PC it’s only 7.6 time per minute. What can you do to make your sight stronger and safe this irreplaceable organ?
Solution
